Pumpkin Patch Terror Land

Sunday we went to a pumpkin patch - which was a bunch of already-picked pumpkins out on the front lawn of a local Church. I'm not complaining - it was a super cute set up. Lots of photo ops and it was free to get in but it would be cool to visit and actual patch.

The trip was to serve three purposes:
1. To get photos in my new freebie leggings for my October blog post over at Soul Flower's blog.

2. To get heck out of the house since I missed church because Cedar was covered head to toe in RINGWORM she caught from a stray cat I let her play with. (Thank you Jaysuss for tea tree oil, Lotramin and emu oil. A winning combo that cleared that crap up in two days!)

3. To get obligatory pumpkin patch photos of the kids.

Unmentioned fourth stone: To take a family portrait. Didn't happen.

The kids were horrifically uncooperative.

The tears, the snot, the tantrums!

Me and the husband took turns between being photographer and kid wrangler. We gave up on a trying to pose them or even get them to sit down so we just chased them around with the camera and both our phones.

I was almost in tears thinking, "How do the other mom-bloggers do this?! This is HARD! Why am I doing this to myself?!"

Out of a bout 300 photos here are the best we got of our first family trip to a pumpkin patch.

Cedar was actually crying in this photo. It just looks like she was smiling so I picked it.

Wrong way, guys.
That's better.

What We Wore
Cedar Girl: Dress handmade by her granny.
Old Man River: Hand-me-down everything from his cousin.
Husband: Walmart clearance shirt and Dickies slacks from Amazon.
Me:$10 dress from Ross Dress for Less and freebie Soul Flower leggings.

With or without kids, do you do the pumpkin patch thing?

I probably wont be able to get around to your blogs like I'd hope - I'm the coordinator of my church's fall festival this weekend and I'll be out the next few days. So I'll get caught up on blog stalking as soon as I can!

dadgummit sassafrassin geez!

Good gravy! I just can't get this day started!
Photos won't load, photo editor won't load, internet is slow, the kids are going coo-coo and they're using me a jungle gym as I'm trying to work, my coffee keeps going cold, I'm hungry and cranky and... and...

I'm sure you get it. It's one thing to have a bad morning but this whole week has been one bad morning and it's only Wednesday.

I had to use my phone for these pics Sunday - my camera lens was super fogged over from the humidity and we couldn't get it cleared up.  Getting the photos from my phone to the computer and to this post was a task that shouldn't have been near as difficult as it was. I almost gave up :whines: but I really wanted to share my new (to me) blanket scaaaarf. Waaaaaahhh!!

Priorities.

You know what I need? Pancakes, sausage, eggs, hash browns, a butler, a personal assistant, some Irish coffee and a fast plane to get me away from here before I lose my mind.
Got all that? That's not a lot to ask for. Seems pretty reasonable, I think.

Yup and now I can't even get the other photos to upload and my face is starting to twitch. I am so done.

I'm going to go lay down on the floor and... not do things.

Booty Betrayal

Hm, let's see.  What's going on with me?
The same ol' same ol'. Starting new ventures, always adding another helping to my plate. Scraping off what's not nourishing but still going back for seconds.

My attempts to level up in my businesses are kind of backfiring a little bit.
After a bad bout with a competitor on Fiverr, I left the site started my own social media management service. I went from a couple of customers a month to nothing. Well, one. I've had one client since I left Fiverr.

The changes in how Pinterest does stuff has changed and my traffic for my "for-profit" blog,  Quirky Bohemian Mama , has absolutely plummeted. That means no affiliate links get clicked, nothing get bought, no money gets made. *sniffles*
So now I have to work super hard to get my blog posts noticed. I even had to start a.... GASP...
NEWSLETTER!!  **sobs**

Look at my dramatic pose. Oh, woe is me.
Nah, I think I just had an itch me forehead.

I'm a little bummed out about how things are working out right now but I can't give up. I won't give up. I've put entirely too much time and effort into setting these things up to just let them go. It's going to take time to get things back the way they were. I'm just not a very patient person when it comes to that kind of stuff... but I'm learning.

So this outfit is very intentionally autumn colored to celebrate that the weather is actually kind of turning autumn-ish here. I'm talking like, it gets down in the 60s at night! That's kind of a big deal in Texas! The top and skirt are handmedowns from my mom. The Indian bangle is fairly new; I got it from an online eco-friendly baby stuff shop called Wild Dill. I've had the spider bracelet for a couple years but completely forgot I had it. I've had to scrounge around for jewelry since I misplaced my good stuff after the faire.

And speaking of things not working out for me. This is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. This is the second time I've worn these beautiful boots - (I couldn't wear them before because I couldn't zip them). It was all glorious at first but as I was walking out of church they sighed their last breath and died. The soles of both shoes peeled off and I had to flop my way to the car and through these photos.
.
Shoe doctor, can you save them?! Not my precious gypsy boots!!
And boom, here's my face. If you didn't notice already, that scar on my chest is from the allergic reaction I had to my giant coin necklace at the faire a couple weeks ago. The wound started off like just a normal whelp but after a couple days it split open to the "white meat" and hurt deep within all over the area for days. Since we're poor with no insurance, I sent the husband to the health food store for some emu oil and now it's healing rather nicely!

So how are you? How do you take your coffee? Have you ever used emu squeezins?

My Faire Lady, Version 5.1

Alrighty, here are a buttload more photos from the faire!
Enjoy!

And I'm SO proud to announce that we had our first MALE dancer this year and several gypsy men!!! YAY!!

The mermaids came back again!

Not even trying to be funny. I think this is my natural eating face.

Pro Pics by Scott Johnson Photography:

The lady to my left is a 60 year old grandmother. She's a fabulous belly dancer in the Gems of Cairo belly dance troupe in the Shreveport, LA.
HOT! Now I know what I wanna be when I grow up! A sexy belly dancing granny!
